Fall is the city’s brewery season. Or at least it feels that way with four of them opening up. So we’ve decided to bring you a series breaking down exactly what you need to know about each house of beer.
First up: Wynwood Brewing Company. You might say it’s the city’s first microbrewery. We say… the same thing. And this week, they’ve opened up their doors. Below: the stats.
The vibe: A cavernous warehouse with fermenters that fit 30 barrels of beer. Also: street art painted by local artists. Because… Wynwood.
The pedigree: The brewmaster here built the first craft brewery in the state of Bahia in Brazil.
Number of beers made on-site: Currently, three. La Rubia (a blond ale), Pop’s Porter (a porter) and an IPA named… Wynwood IPA.
Number of beers on tap: Patience, grasshopper. While the actual brewery is open for tours, the taproom won’t be ready until late October. Meantime, you can find their beer at 12 local bars.
The food situation: None… yet. See: taproom.
The unexpected beer: … is a secret. Sorry. But if we were the betting type, we’d put our money on a holiday brew that tastes like a Puerto Rican version of eggnog.
Just a guess.
