If you want to know what fashion trends are sizzling on the sand this year, look no further than party island Ibiza. YOU’s Amy Williams jetted over to find out what’s holiday hot for summer 2011
IBIZA TO-DO LIST
SUNNING We spied the Camerons among the hip young families on Salinas Beach, where the only energy anyone expends is in moving from beach to bar — the Jockey Club (jockeyclubibiza.com) is a rock-solid choice. The Blue Marlin beach club (bluemarlinibiza.com), near San José, is the hang-out for the Ibiza set: book a bed by day then dance to world-class DJs all night.
CLUBBING If you’ve packed your best dancing shoes and love a bit of a spectacle, Hed Kandi’s ‘Disco’s Revenge’ night at San Antonio’s Es Paradis club is a good choice (hedkandi.com). In Ibiza Town you can dance under the stars at the new Ushuaia Hotel, while DC10, near Sant Jordi, is a must for those who love dancing more than glossy surroundings.
SLEEPING For families or large groups, villas are the way to do Ibiza. For smaller groups, or if you’re going for a weekend, book a hotel. The YOU team stayed at the recently refurbished Es Vive (right) in Ibiza Town. It’s part chill-out, part party — a soundproofed club overlooks the pool. Rooms from 150 euros, hotelesvive.com.
FLYING Monarch flies to Ibiza from Birmingham, Gatwick and Manchester during the summer season with fares, including taxes, starting from £48.99 one way; £81.99 return; monarch.co.uk
