Sunrise’s Melanie Amaro now waits to see if she’s The X Factor winner

Sunrise singing sensation, Melanie Amaro, performed for all The X Factor marbles Wednesday night.

Did she win? The vote tally will be announced at Thursday’s result show.

For the final round, Amaro, 19, a graduate of Plantation High, performed third, behind rocker Josh Krajcik and hip-hopper Chris Rene.

Amaro began with a duet of I Believe I Can Fly with R. Kelly. Her second and final song was Listen, which won praise from the judges.

“I sang my heart out; I could not have gone further,” Amaro told WSVN after the show.

Her competition is tough.

For his duet, Krajcik sang Uninvited with Alanis Morissette; Rene followed with a duet of Complicated with singer Avril Lavigne. Krajcik’s solo song was At Last and Rene closed out with his original song, Young Homey.

In Sunrise at Amaro’s church, Faith Center Ministries, hundreds of people gathered to watch the hometown girl perform on the show, aired live on WSVN Fox.

Amaro’s parents flew to Hollywood, CA. to be in the audience when their daughter performs, courtesy of Sunrise Mayor Mike Ryan and secret benefactors.

The winner gets a $5 million recording contract and will star in a Pepsi commercial.

Midshow, Simon Cowell, Amaro’s mentor on the show, tweeted the young singer could win it all:

“This is going to be a very, very close competition but I’m counting on #TeamMelanie @thexfactorusa.”
