One for the sk8er girls: Avril Lavigne’s clothing line to show at New York Fashion Week

It probably won’t compete with the Chanels, Mark Jacobs’ or Valentinos of the fashion world, but Avril Lavigne’s latest fashion line will be showing at New York Fashion Week.

The singer’s label, Abbey Dawn, will next month host a ‘high-energy runway fashion show’ displaying the latest from the world of skater fashion.

The glam set can expect a dash of the goth, perhaps a smattering of graffiti and a fair share of rips on the creations from the chart-topping Canadian pop princess turned fashion designer.

The New York catwalk show will see the launch of a full men’s wear collection, giving male catwalks a run for their money.

The ladies’ – or should that be sk8er chicks’? – line will include dresses, denim, skirts, footwear, handbags, wallets, purses and eyewear.

From what we have seen of Abbey Dawn in the past, the threads might appeal to teenagers but may not be quite so attractive to the sky-high heeled fashionistas at the Lincoln Center.

After seeing pictures of the 26-year-old with boyfriend Brody Jenner at Kim Kardashian’s wedding on Saturday, the star’s goth style doesn’t have us waiting with bated breath.

Ms Lavigne is not the only pop sensation who has turned a hand to the fickle world of fashion design.

Gwen Setfani’s label, L.A.M.B., will show at Fashion Week, though the star may not be able to spare the time to be at her own show because of film commitments.

Queen of heels, Victoria Beckham will also be in attendance despite suffering a slipped disc following the birth of baby Harper Seven in July.

The Spice Girl turned fashion designer will however have to break Fashion Week protocol and wear flat shoes, after doctors ordered the mother of four to avoid stilettos.
