In the season’s final chamber music concert, consummate cellist Sharon Robinson joins the Fellows for an unforgettable performance of Franz Schubert’s sublime String Quintet. This final instrumental piece by Schubert is generally regarded as one of the greatest works in the entire chamber music repertoire. The New Yorker called John Luther Adams “one of the most original musical thinkers of the new century.” With trance-like mercurial harmonies his The Light Within is an extraordinary sensory experience not to be missed. Master craftsman Michael Torke creates a tantalizing synthesis of classical, jazz and rock in his Adjustable Wrench.

The 2018 edition of the Network Performing Arts Production Workshop (NPAPW18) will be held on April 24-26, 2018 at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. The workshop’s program is focused on how networking technology is extending access to resources and expertise both in the Research & Education community and beyond. The 2018 agenda includes demonstrations and use-cases by institutions and individuals who are leveraging these tools to have both local and global impact in their sectors.

The Side-by-Side Concert is an extraordinary opportunity for young instrumentalists (grades 7-12) to perform alongside the New World Symphony Fellows. The students share the New World Center’s stage and develop musical relationships with the Fellows as they rehearse and perform music of the highest caliber.

Named after the ancient Greek deity personifying the Earth, GAIA is the final program of Kaleidoscope MusArt’s 2017-18 concert season Out of Doors. Honoring Earth Day, the program draws together piano works by Bartók, Scriabin, Feldman, Ornstein, Debussy, Murail and the world premiere of Funrunner by Joseph Klein. Distinguished musicologist Frank Cooper will provide the historical context of the compositions performed by Alan Johnson, Redi Llupa, Inesa Gegprifti, Maria Sumareva, Joana Gonzalez and Larisa Soboleva. Projections of artworks by Sebastian Spreng will accompany selected pieces offering a visual dimension to the sonic experience.
