LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2019 IN MIAMI

Every September, Labor Day marks the end of summer and the unofficial start of fall. This year, spend the three-day weekend in Miami, where you can celebrate with pool parties, beach days, a little fun in the sun, a trip to the zoo or even a staycation! Browse through our city guides to get inspired and then read below for even more labor day weekend ideas.

One of the best parts of Labor Day weekend in Miami is that Miami Spice is also happening. This means you can indulge all weekend long trying out new restaurants you might not normally think of. There are also plenty of museums and farmers markets around the city to spend the day browsing and enjoying the crowd.

Of course, as a federal holiday, this means banks, schools, and other federal agencies will be closed on Monday. So kick back, and enjoy the long weekend the Miami way.

Did you know? Labor Day honors the American labor union movement and the sacrifices made by the workers who have shaped our great country.

Best things to do on Labor Day

Beyoncé + JAY-ZBeyoncé + JAY-Z

The most powerful power-couple, JAY-Z and Beyoncé, are about to invade Miami and have an entire stadium shaking. Their co-headlining tour, OTR II, will mash up JAY’s increasingly conscientious hip-hop with Bey’s immaculately choreographed anthems. It’s a concert experience you really do not want to miss. Fri at 8pm;

Love Ball & Chain’s regular repertoire of free live music? Then you need to head down to the Little Havana hotspot at some point during Labor Day weekend for the annual Ball & Chain Music Festival. See some of Miami’s most popular acts for three straight days of salsa, jazz and more. Expect more than 100 musicians to partake. Some of our favorites include PALO!, Suénalo, Lemon City Trio and more. Fri, Sat and Sunday from noon to 3am; free.

Kiki on the RiverKiki on the River

Kiki on the River is celebrating for the entire long weekend. On Friday, from 5:30 to 7:30pm, grab a $10 Aperol spritz. On Saturday, Kiki is channeling its inner São Paulo with a Brazilian themed day party. And on Labor Day, stop by via boat and enjoy complimentary docking (if space is available). That’s normally $5 per foot, so you’ll save some dough—especially if you’re rolling up in a VanDutch.
