Chef and restauranteur Juan Chipoco, the man behind mega-popular ceviche spot Cviche 105 and rotisserie chicken eatery Pollos y Jarras, is adding to his restaurant collection with Intimo , a Peruvian-Nikkei outpost located in the South of Fifth neighborhood at 840 1st Street.

Intimo is a nod to Chipoco’s Incan heritage and showcases plenty of Peruvian and Japanese flavors. The extensive menu offers much to choose from including tataki, tiradito, ceviches, sushi rolls, and nigiris. Hot offerings include foie gras and gyoza and grilled octopus served with patatas bravas. For larger dishes think dishes like wagyu ribeye, short rib pappardelle, lomo saltado, black cod miso, and Peruvian corn cakes with spicy lobster. At the bar, guests can sip on classic Peruvian cocktails like the pisco sour, or opt for one of the wines from the large wine list.

The restaurant space was designed by Chipoco to feel like an “extension of his home.” The 80-seat dining room features marble sushi and cocktail bars, textured grey walls with koi fish designs, gold leaf, and shelves lined with books, family portraits, and antiques from Chipoco’s own home.

This doesn’t make the end of Chipoco’s planned culinary expansion. Next year he is bringing Cviche 105 to Dadeland and opening Yuca 105, a Peruvian-Cuban eatery in collaboration with Yuca in South Beach.
