Join the Gables Cinema as we continue our family and youth film screenings as part of “Family Day on Aragon”, in partnership with the Coral Gables Museum and Books & Books. This month’s presentation will be the fantasy drama, directed by Spike Jonze and adapted from Maurice Sendrak’s 1963 children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are. The film centers around a lonely eight-year-old boy named Max who sails away to an island inhabited by creatures known as the “”Wild Things,”” who declare Max their king. Combining live action, performers in costumes, animatronics, and CGI, the acclaimed family friendly drama stars Max Records, and features the voices of James Gandolfini, Paul Dano, Lauren Ambrose, Forest Whitaker, Catherine O’Hara, and Chris Cooper. Rolling Stone says, “Jonze has filmed a fantasy as if it were absolutely real.” The film is rated PG and is 100 minutes long.
