The Wizard of Oz (80th Anniversary)

Saturday, 9/14 & Sunday, 9/15

“A delightful piece of wonder-working.” – Frank S. Nugent, The New York Times

Victor Fleming’s celebrated musical The Wizard of Oz turns 80 years old and we’re celebrating! Based on a book by L. Frank Baum, the film is about country girl Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) who is swept away by a tornado (with her dog Toto) to the magical land of Oz. There, she embarks on a difficult journey back to Kansas where along the way she makes friends and one foe – The Wicked Witch of the West. Todd McCarthy of Variety notes that The Wizard of Oz has “remained in the American cultural mythology for six decades now, and the answers to why they resonate more with deep meaning and feeling than with kitsch value to millions of people lie throughout this remarkable film.” This film is appropriate for ages 6 and up.

Culturally rich, inexpensive family fun featuring beloved classics and new favorites for all to enjoy. Hosted on the second Saturday & Sunday of every month. Tickets are only $5 general admission and free for children 12 & under with a free small popcorn and soda. In partnership with Books & Books and Coral Gables Museum.
