The exciting Discovery Series of the festival concludes featuring two not to be missed performances by Misha Dacic & Vladimir Markovic.

Join us for an exquisite world premiere for one show only of an interactive evening of music and live painting.

The Miami International Piano Festival concludes its 2013 season with an innovative stroke of artistry that brings a unique visual aspect to the piano recital format. This performance will echo the grand traditions of the Romantic Period where pianists were inspired by the painting of great masters – except that tonight the music will inspire the art.

A pianist of extraordinary power, Misha Dacic will inspire renowned muralist, Vladimir Markovic to produce a painting – live on stage – during Dacic’s performance of the mystical music of Scriabin and Mompou’s elusive music of evaporation.

It is hard to believe that 10 years have passed since Dacic first performed at the Discover Series on May 15, 2003 after he was introduced to Artistic Director, Giselle Brodsky by pianist Kemal Gekic. Since then he graduated with honors from the University of Miami under a full scholarship and went on to receive his graduate degree from FIU. His career as a concert artist has taken him to nearly every corner of the globe, from all over the U.S. to Japan, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil and beyond.

He has continued to grace the Festival with brilliant performances, some of which have been released on a bestselling DVD on the VAI label. Piano Classics has also recently released an all Liszt recording. Of the recording, the label writes: “. . . he looks and actually is a wizard. A true artist, with limitless technique, and the ability to conjure up unheard-of tonal effects from the piano, to turn that “miserable instrument” (Beethoven) into an orchestra of the most amazing timbres and sonorities.”

This performance echoes the grand traditions of the Romantic Period where pianists were inspired by the painting of great masters – except that this evening, the music of great masters will inspire the art. A pianist of extraordinary power, Misha Dacic, will inspire the renowned muralist, Vladimir Markovic to produce a painting – live on stage, as Dacic performs the mystical music of Scriabin and Mompou’s most beautiful, elusive, simple and mystical music of Evaporation.

To round out the Festival experience, Frank Cooper, Musicology Research Professor at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, has been named “Lecturer in Residence” and will be on hand to provide a dynamic intellectual perspective on the artists’ choice of repertoire.
