Two distinguished instrumentalists join New World Symphony Fellows during this chamber concert tracing the lineage of the classical tradition. The afternoon begins with the most recent piece, Nielsen’s Serenata in vano, but works backwards to the 18th century—arguably the most prolific century of classical music. Russian-born oboist Eugene Izotov, Principle Oboe of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, leads Mozart’s Oboe Quintet, and Turkish violinist Ani Kavafian solos during Beethoven’s serenade-like Septet.
