Meteorically rising Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado leads the orchestra in one of the most recognized works of post-Stalinist Russia, Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony. The riveting work captures the emotions and outcomes of the Second World War, from terror and tragedy to violence and victory. Argentine cellist Sol Gabetta makes her NWS debut in Elgar’s contemplative and elegiac concerto.
