City Theatre’s highly acclaimed educational outreach tour, Short Cuts is a fresh, dynamic, engaging educational product that addresses issue of “Self-Esteem” and “Bullying” through music, song and short drama. Performed by a company of top South Florida professional artists, each performance is followed by a post-show discussion hosted by the show’s Director (and City Theatre’s Assistant Artistic Director) Mcley Lafrance. The plays and post show discussions act as spring boards further addressing relevant issues effecting youth today. Short Cuts is often a rare or first-time theatre experience for student audiences. Its popularity and appeal for students and teachers alike has been successful for the past 19 seasons. Online study guides are available online for the students prior to the show to prepare them for the short play format and subject matter. Last year, this City Theatre production, sponsored by the Carnival Foundation, toured 34 Miami-Dade County schools and community venues with support from the Miami-Dade County School Board.
