Miami Dade College is gearing up for the holidays and putting on quite a show. Wolfson Campus’ Department of Arts and Philosophy, Opera/Musical Theatre Ensemble will present Little Women, the Broadway musical, at 7 p.m., Dec. 13 and 14.

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic 1869 semi-autobiographical novel, the musical focuses on the four March sisters – Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth – and their beloved Marmee, at home in Concord, Massachusetts, while the family patriarch is away at war. Little Women embodies the entire theatrical experience with laughter, tears, and a lifting of the human spirit, as the lives of these four sisters unfold during the Civil War. It’s a timeless story that deals with issues as relevant today as when they were written.

Under the direction of Amy Ibberson and Alan Ngim, the choreography is by Lee Pugh III. The music is by Jason Howland, while the lyrics were composed by Mindi Dickstein. The book is by Allan Knee.
