Vincenzo Bellini’s operas are among the finest of the bel canto style. Bel canto, or “beautiful singing,” is noted for its challenging coloratura ornamentation and long, exposed musical lines. La sonnambula features some of the most beautiful and original music in all of opera and a passionate and deservedly famous conclusion.
