A few Miami Heat stars have managed to stay busy in the offseason. And their latest endeavors don’t exactly involve doing practice shots.
Chris Bosh has gone all Hollywood on us, appearing as himself in NBC’s Law & Order SVU.
He’ll appear along with New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony in an episode called Personal Fouls, airing 10 p.m. Sept. 28. According to the episode description, Dan Lauria (best known for The Wonder Years) plays a youth basketball coach suspected of being a sexual predator. Mehcad Brooks ( True Blood) and rapper Heavy D are also in the show. Anthony and Bosh will appear in the opening scene and climax.
The newlywed Bosh, who was shooting last week, tweeted that he had gotten his lines down and seemed happy: “On another planet right now, very cool.’’
Bosh looks to have caught the acting bug. He also played himself on Entourage, hanging out at a bar, asking for alcohol.
As for teammate Dwyane Wade, he’s developed a serious interest in haute couture. He was seen all over Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC, sitting front and center at Richard Chai and next to the mighty Anna Wintour at the Rag & Bone show. He is rumored to be working on a clothing line for QVC, though he denies it (c’mon, he’s designed sneakers, so what’s the problem?).
One thing’s for sure, Flash is always up for helping out kids. This Saturday, the father of two will be in Washington, D.C., for Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play event. Fifty organizations, “Let’s Move” (the initiative led by Michelle Obama) and the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition will join Nick stars to host a day of physical activities and games for families. It’ll be held at the Ellipse park, between the National Mall and White House. LeBron James will also fly in to get his sweat on.
