Over-the-top Mexican street food, authentic beverages, and a tricked out taco truck interior make for a Bodega Taqueria y Tequila. The New Mexican place open its door at 1220 16th Street, South Beach. Expect explosive flavors and naughty, over-the-top combinations worth of every bite in Bodega’s irreverent setting, ideal for casual lunch and late-night debauchery. Bodega’s menu is the brainchild of madcap Chef Bernie Matz, a self-proclaimed “connoisseur of the taco,” having traveled extensively in the Yucatan and Monterrey, Mexico. With this inspiration, Matz created an amped up, modern take on a rotating vertical Spit, which features chicken, pork and steak. Here is more information about Bodega Taqueria :
According to Urban Daddy :
“On the outside, this looks like a cheerful little taco shop. With an Airstream trailer inside, a marquee listing daily specials, high-top tables and pork belly tacos and tortas from Bernie Matz (you might remember him from Bernie’s L.A. Café around the corner). So go ahead and order those things. Eat them, too. But then, we’re going to ask that you do something… weird. Go to the bathroom. It’s the blue door that says baños.”
According to Miami.com :
“Billing itself as a “rock-n-roll taco stand,” Bodega will play Latin hip-hop while slinging its tacos and tortas, Mexican-inspired beverages and more. The taco shop will be open for take-out and sit-down lunch and dinner, with late-night hours to keep the spices and spirits flowing well into the night. Bodega is the first of three previously announced Menin Hospitality restaurant concepts to open. The others — Red Ginger and Bake Shop — are supposedly coming to South of Fifth … sometime. Chef Bernie Matz, previously of Books & Books and Bernie’s L.A. Cafe, is overseeing Bodega’s menu.” written by Lesley Abravanel.
According to Yelp :
“Best authentic Mexican Tacos on the beach. Not only are they cheap and delicious, but the have a speak-easy style bar hidden behind and you actually walk into in through the kitchen cooler, very cool! Nothing like it in Miami, definitely worth a visit” written by Jose M. V. (5 stars).
“Yes and yes! Tacos, Tortas and Jarritos sodas…bodega already won me there…but then ..wait for it…it has a massive bar hidden behind a Baños door? Yeap, this taqueria not only has yummy Mexican food but it has a great bar in the back…with industrial decor, a pool table, sofas , a dj stand and a second floor lounge area.. Unfortunately we visited during the day…but word has it this place gets packed during the weekend. Looking forward to going back and trying some of their cocktails.” written by Sabrina L. (4 stars).
