Bank of America announced Tuesday it has hired 130 small business bankers across the Sunshine State, including 34 in Central Florida.
Of the 34 small business bankers hired locally, 21 were in the Orlando area.
The additions were part of the bank’s plan to hire 1,000 small business bankers nationwide.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local and national economy,” said Robb Hilson, Miami-based Small Business executive for Bank of America, in a news release. “In today’s uncertain environment, it is crucial that a small business owner’s banking relationship is with someone who is knowledgeable about their local community. Bank of America small business bankers are engrained in the communities they serve, and have a real understanding of the needs of Florida businesses.”
In the first half of 2012, BofA gave $813.8 million in credit to small businesses in Florida.
Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) is the second-largest bank in Central Florida with $6.8 billion in deposits and 69 branches in the area.
