A British Hotel with a Little Edge

Great city.

If you’ve got some vacation time to spare, you should totally take it in…

In South Beach.

So give a bloody warm welcome to Lord Balfour, a masterpiece of retro-British lodging with proper tea cocktails and the occasional tattooed temptress, now open in SoFi.

Good timing, considering there’s a long weekend coming up. Might want to book a room in this London-boardinghouse-meets-art-deco-bungalow retreat (translation: there’s a sprawling terrazzo veranda overlooking Ocean Drive and a glowing ceiling-mounted parliamentary scroll on the inside).

As for your room, let’s assume it’s the suite (call it a hunch). Your bed: swaddled in plush tailor-made linens. Your bath: stocked with a rain showerhead and Etro lotions. Oh, and look, a tattooed woman with a come-hither look in her eyes splashed across the wall… how nice.

But let’s head back to the lobby.

You’ll notice a polished coral bar that was the original 1940s reception desk. Run to it. That’s where you’ll be enjoying a spot of tea… that’s been infused with liquor. Like the Lord Balfour Collins with a gin-blended oolong, yuzu and basil.

Go ahead, extend that pinkie.
