2018 Met Gala ‘Heavenly Bodies’ Celebrity Looks

The Met Gala is one of the biggest nights in fashion and celebrities did not hold out with this year’s theme of ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. We have chosen the top celebrities that have gone above and beyond with their designer gowns.

Blake Lively

One of the nights most anticipated star, Blake Lively wore a custom Versace gown that took over 600 hours to produce. Not only was the gown a statement but her Lorraine Schwartz jewelry is estimated to be worth $2 million! In order to fully embody this year’s theme Blake wore a custom holo that featured 100 carats of champagne diamonds.

Rihanna

Another star that did not disappoint with her Pope inspired look by Maison Martin Margiela. The corset mini dress is completely beaded under a full intricately white beaded skirt. The female pope accessorized with a beaded bishop’s hat reminiscent of the papal tiaras popes would wear during the medieval era through the 1960s.

Chadwick Boseman

The Black Panther superstar makes it to the list because he absolutely took the Heavenly Bodies’ theme to impressive heights. He wore an all-white Versace suit with religious crosses, gold shoes, and a full cape embroidered with gold crosses!

Ariana Grande

A look pulled directly from the most famous place of worship is exactly what the Met Gala coordinators anticipated and Ariana Grande delivered! Vera Wang designed the gown with a screen printed image of Michelangelo’s fresco, The Last Judgement with a fitted bodice.

Zendaya

Channeling her Joan of Arc persona, Zendaya offers us dramatic gazes in her custom-made silver Versace gown. Her stylish Law Roach states, “When I knew the theme and Versace, we started the conversation, there were a lot of sketches from Versace and I started thinking about strong women who had a connection to religion”. Zendaya loves drama and this look perfectly exemplified just that.

Lana Del Rey

Considered one of the most dramatic dresses of the night, Lana Del Rey wears a peach-hued crystal embellished gown Gucci gown. The gown was inspired by Our Lady of Sorrows with seven daggers going through a jeweled heart in the center of her chest.
